Generalities

I was born in Vlora (Albania) on February 28-th 1943. I received my B. A. in Albanian Language and Literature in 1968 from the University of Tirana. From 1968 I taught in different secondary schools in the Vlora district, and from 1974 in the Chair of Albanian language of the University of Tirana, where I continue working. I got my Ph. D. in 1985 with a dissertation on the Morphonology of the Albanian language. As a lecturer with the Department of Linguistics of the University of Tirana I have taught since the beginning Introduction to Linguistics, and Practicum of the Standard Albanian, while last years I teach also Phonetics of the Standard Albanian as well as a course on Generative Grammar. My fields of research include inflectional morphology of Albanian (mainly morphonology), phonetics, language planning and language policy. Work in progress: A textbook on the Phonetics of the Standard Albanian; papers on the norms of the Standard etc. My hobbies are history and traveling.
